Morrisons Christmas advert

Anyone else seen this advert on the television? It’s utterly terrible, but utterly brilliant at the same time. The selection of celebrities they’ve signed up is so brilliantly random*. I mean Nick Hancock for goodness sake!

And then there’s the soundtrack – a festive version of ‘Shine’ by Take That. It’s rubbish, but also great. But who the heck suggested that in a planning meeting?

The ‘plot’ is pretty crazy too. Why is Lula walking down the street with an empty trolly? Nobody brings their own trolly to the supermarket.

However my favourite bit has to be Alan Hansen’s fantastic line ‘it must be Christmas’. Alan is a great football pundit, but seemingly not such a great actor. He really would have to be dead to show any less emotion that he does here.

So thank you Morrisons. Your advert may be terrible, but it’s also very funny.

* In case, like me, you were unsure as to who all the ‘celebrities’ in the advert are, they appear the following order Lulu, Gabby Logan, Nick Hancock, Denise Van Outen, Diarmuid Gavin, Alan Hansen
